PRIVACY POLICY
Your photos stay on your phone.
Updated 1 November 2026
This notice describes the 2000s app and this support website. Optional usage analytics is off until you allow it. You can use the camera and editor without enabling it.
Who is responsible?
Wotaso GmbH, Bostonring 5, 71686 Remseck am Neckar, Germany. Contact contact@wotaso.com for support or privacy requests. Full company details are in our legal notice.
Photos and local app data
Camera images, imported photos, video processing, edits and the in-app Memory Card are handled on your device. Normal app operation does not upload your pictures, videos or editor text to Wotaso. Saving to Photos or sharing a picture uses the permissions and destination you choose. Another app or service you share to handles that copy under its own privacy terms.
The app stores local settings, your privacy choice, and files needed to reopen your projects. These remain on your device while needed for your saved library and settings. 2000s does not require an account.
Optional usage analytics — AnalyticsCLI
Only after you allow analytics, AnalyticsCLI receives usage events such as screen views, selected looks, capture and export actions, purchase-flow events, app version, operating system and a random app identifier. These help us understand which features are used and improve the app. Photos and feedback text are not included in usage events.
The basis for optional analytics is your consent. No optional usage events are sent before the choice or after refusal. In Settings → Tracking & Analytics, choose Turn Off Analytics to withdraw consent. This stops further collection, drops queued events and cancels an active upload; a request already received before withdrawal cannot be recalled. Withdrawal does not automatically erase previously received data. You can contact us about erasure.
There are no advertising SDKs or IDFA-based tracking, and we do not use these events to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Crash and performance diagnostics — GlitchTip
Technical reports help investigate errors, crashes and app hangs. They may contain app and OS versions, device model, timing, stack traces, a pseudonymous SDK identifier and technical breadcrumbs. We use GlitchTip hosted by Wotaso, with the Sentry-compatible SDK. This is separate from usage analytics; the app does not send reports to Sentry’s cloud service.
The app minimises diagnostic data, scrubs sensitive fields and does not attach screenshots or your photo library. In Settings → Crash Reports, you can turn reporting off. The JavaScript reporter follows the switch immediately; restart the app to apply the choice to native crash reporting as well. We process diagnostics for our legitimate interest in security, reliability and troubleshooting.
Feedback and support
If you choose to send in-app feedback, its text and technical context such as app version, build, platform and the form’s location are sent to the AnalyticsCLI feedback service. This explicit submission works independently of optional usage analytics. Email support includes the information you send to us. We use it to respond to your request and improve support; the basis is handling your request and our legitimate interest in resolving problems. Avoid including information you do not want us to receive.
Purchases, downloads and website requests
Apple handles in-app payments, subscription management and restoration through its App Store services. We do not receive your payment-card details. If analytics is enabled, purchase-flow events can include a selected plan, price and currency; these are usage events rather than payment credentials.
Fonts, stickers and their catalogues are downloaded from our asset hosting when requested. Hosting and network services necessarily process connection information, such as an IP address and requested URL, to deliver downloads and this website. This static support website uses no advertising, analytics scripts, login forms or non-essential cookies.
Recipients and international processing
Data is processed by Wotaso and the hosting/network providers needed for these functions, by AnalyticsCLI for opted-in product analytics and voluntary feedback, and by Apple for App Store services. Some providers may process information outside the EU or EEA. Where required, transfers use applicable safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or an applicable adequacy decision. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your request.
How long is data kept?
Retention follows the purpose of the data: diagnostics and technical logs are kept for security and investigation of faults; consent-based usage data for the stated product analysis and improvement purposes; and feedback/support records for handling requests, relevant follow-up and documenting their resolution. Data is deleted or anonymised when no longer required for these purposes, subject to legal retention or claim-related requirements. Turning reporting off stops future collection rather than deleting historical records. Ask us for access or erasure through the contact above.
Your choices and rights
Where applicable, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of personal data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent for future processing. You may complain to a data protection supervisory authority. We do not use this information for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing. The European Commission explains these rights.
